    Hi,

I am using Evo N620c as my office notebook with Windows XP, I recently purchased thie SMC2635W wireless card. Trying to install this card ends up with Cannot install driver because can not find necessary software. I tried installing latest notebook firmware F13 dated April 04 and uninstalled all drivers of SMC, rebooted PC, Reinstalled Driver and plugged in card. The result still showed the same. Any Idea? is there any compatibility issue?
    regards.

Page 6 of the manual for your wireless adapter recommends installing the driver software first, before inserting the card in yoru laptop, which I see you did on the second try.

I have found that when installing drivers first is recommended, it is best if there is an intervening reboot between the driver installation and hardware installation (that is, install the drivers, shut down and power off, boot back up, THEN install the hardware).

If it is helpful, the latest drivers for your card (as well as the user guide) are available at http://www.smc.com/index.cfm?sec=Products&pg=Product-Details∏=296&site=c.

Please post back if this does not resolve your problem. If it does, then thanks in advance for any points you might assign.

Hi Terry, Thanks for the input and it surely helped. One thing though is that after installing the drivers, I had to reboot my PC and direct the driver to the program files\smc\wire....\drivers\winxp folder for it to work, using the recommended way(auto detect) does not work.

Anyway thanks again for the help.
