Hi there.  I've got an issue in part of a large office building.  The area involved has 2 x AP505's in it and there are about 35 clients on them.  We're running 2 VM's for Mobility Conductor and 2 x 7205 physical controllers, by the way.

There are meeting rooms at one end of the office and the entrance at the other.  I've got clients building up on the first AP they meet and when they go into the meeting rooms they're complaining of poor connectivity.  I've had a read through the posts on here and I've checked that client matching is turned on by default on all these units.  It still looks like they're sticking to the first AP and not moving to the one nearest the meeting rooms.

What's the best way to lower the threshold to get the users moving over to the close AP without breaking the other 160 AP's on site?  Is there a client match setting for a single AP or do I go in and mess with the RF settings and thresholds for that AP alone?  Any advice gratefully received.

what are the min/max transmit power for the 2.4G and 5GHz radios on those two AP-505s?

In the AP Group menu in the buildings group the 'Radio' tab shows the AP's as transmitting between 6-12 dB for 2.4GHz and between 15-21 dB for the 5 and 6 GHz radios.  This seems to be universal for all groups and AP's.

and whats the current TX power for the two APs on the 2.4 and 5 GHz radio? and is the sticky clients using 2.4GHz?

When clients are in the conference room, what is the SNR on the AP near the entrance?  You might be able to adjust the "Local Probe Request Threshold" so that the AP won't answer the clients when they are in the conference room.  We run that at about 20dB.  Of course this could cause problems if there are clients in other areas that need the AP and don't have a high enough SNR.

We went through a similar exercise a couple of years ago. As a client ultimately decides, which would be confirmed in numerous other posts by smarter people here, your easiest approach is to set client roaming aggressiveness to the maximum. On Windows clients go to the NIC Properties > Configure > Advanced > Roaming Aggressiveness > Set to Highest. Test it. This works for us on 515s tunneled to 7240 clusters running 8.10.
