    Hello

I'm just trying to activate stp on a 5900 switch.

But apparently I have the wrong command (please enable)

    Thanks for your help

    Hi @Jvdv !

    system-view
     stp global enable

should enable STP, by default it will be MSTP.

    Thank you for your reply.
Here is the feedback I have after this order

    [SW_AVLCT_A]stp global enable
    [SW_AVLCT_A]save
The current configuration will be written to the device. Are you sure? [Y/N]:Y
    Please input the file name(*.cfg)[flash:/startup.cfg]

The command for setting STP edge port is 'stp edged-port', I don't think you need 'enable' after that.
If that doesn't work, check if you don't have 'port link-mode route' command under the interface. If you do, the port is routed port and of course STP doesn't include it into calculation and STP commands are not available. If the port is 'port link-mode bridge', then post output from following commands for further investigation:

    display version
    display curr int gig1/0/1
    display int gig1/0/1
    display stp

The command works but when I go to the port conf it is still not in enable.

I also give you the result of the rest of the commands.

    thank you

I am afraid you have wrong expectation if you think the 'stp edged-port' command in the current-config will turn to 'stp edged-port enable'. It doesn't work this way. If you see 'stp edged-port' in the configuration, it means the port IS edge port. If you want to disable this feature the command is 'undo stp edged-port' and after applying it you will see how 'stp edged-port' line disappear from the interface's configuration.

So if the 'stp edged-port' is visible under the interface's configuration, STP Edge is enabled. If it's not visible, it's disabled.

At this moment Gig1/0/1 IS edge port:

    ---[Port1(GigabitEthernet1/0/1)][DOWN]----
    Port protocol : Enabled
    Port role : Disabled Port
    Port ID : 128.1
    Port cost(Legacy) : Config=auto, Active=200000
    Desg.bridge/port : 0.7848-59f0-1d13, 128.1
    Port edged : Config=enabled, Active=enabled
    Point-to-Point : Config=auto, Active=false

ok thank you for your clarification.

    Last question.

How to add a routing table of this type.

    Thank you

    0.0.0.0/0 Static 60 0 10.8.133.254 Vlan133
    10.8.133.0/24 Direct 0 0 10.8.133.17 Vlan133
    10.8.133.17/32 Direct 0 0 127.0.0.1 InLoop0
    127.0.0.0/8 Direct 0 0 127.0.0.1 InLoop0
    127.0.0.1/32 Direct 0 0 127.0.0.1 InLoop0

If your task is to configure static route and Vlan-interface, so the routing table to become identical to the output provided, then you can follow this script:

    system-view
    vlan 133
     quit
    interface Vlan-interface133
     no shutdown
     ip address 10.8.133.17 24
     quit
    ip route-static 0.0.0.0 0 10.8.133.254
    return

Don't forget to add VLAN 133 to a physical interface! If Vlan-interface133 will stay down, there is no single port associated with this VLAN.

ok after making the commands I still can't find my route in my routing table

    <SW_AVLCT_I>display ip routing-table
    Routing Tables: Public
    Destinations : 2 Routes : 2

Destination/Mask Proto Pre Cost NextHop Interface

    127.0.0.0/8 Direct 0 0 127.0.0.1 InLoop0
    127.0.0.1/32 Direct 0 0 127.0.0.1 InLoop0

    <SW_AVLCT_I>display vlan 133
    VLAN ID: 133
    VLAN Type: static
    Route Interface: configured
    IP Address: 10.8.133.18
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Description: Avlct-mgmt_sw
    Name: Avlct-mgmt_sw
    Tagged Ports:
    GigabitEthernet1/0/27 GigabitEthernet1/0/28
    Untagged Ports: none

I bet GigabitEthernet1/0/27 and GigabitEthernet1/0/28 both are DOWN

    Oh yes okay.

What about the command for an untagged port? and labeled port? Thank you

Untagged port is access port, it can send/receive untagged frames in single VLAN:

    interface Gig1/0/1
    port link-type access
    port access vlan 10

Tagged port is trunk port, it can send/receive multiple VLANs traffic, the VLAN ID field (tag) will be differentiator:

    interface Gig1/0/1
    port link-type trunk
port trunk permit vlan all (or 'port trunk permit vlan 10 20' if you want to allow specific VLANs only, in this example 10 and 20)

    OK thanks

I know created a static route now but how to do a direct one like the routing table below?

    Thank you

    10.8.133.0/24 Direct 0 0 10.8.133.17 Vlan133

It's not a static route, it is directly-connected network. It's a routing record for your local Vlan-interface133. As soon as you get your Vlan-interface133 UP, this record will appear in the routing table, because routing table contains only REACHABLE networks and since interface is down, its record is not included. However, as soon as it will go up, it will immediately appear in the routing table. As I stated before, in order Vlan-interface133 to go up, you need at least one switching port with this VLAN 133 in UP state. The only exception when Vlan-interface can stay down while ports in this VLAN are up is 'shutdown' command under the Vlan-interface's context, but if you refer to the commands I've sent you, you will see 'undo shutdown' command that should prevent this situation.

Look, I don't want to sound mean, but I really encourage you to download all Configuration Guides for 5900 from https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/home and read at least Layer 2 LAN Switching and Layer 3 IP Routing Configuration guides. When you clarify for yourself basics listed there all the commands I gave you will start to make sense.
