  • 1.  The cause for the Error 404 on Clearpass

    Posted Aug 05, 2019 12:04 PM

I have built 3 instances of clearpass 6.8 on ESXi 6.5 via the web interface,

All 3 have come back with the same problem, I have configured the IP for the Mgmt on the Console, but when I browser before entering a licence

    Error 404: Page not found
The page you are trying to access is unavailable. Redirecting in 5 seconds...
If the application continues to be unavailable, please contact your network administrator for further assistance.

I have the following spec on the VM

    2 CPUs

    8Gb RAM

    Disk 1 30GB

    Disk 2 500GB

Nic 1 Mgmt - VM Network (Accessing the device through this)

Nic 2 Data - Other Network (Not connected)

I am quite sure I have used ClearPass on this host in the past, so how do I resolve it?

Can you ping the server? if not, you need to swap the ntwork of the 2 nic's. The mgmt port is not always bound to the first nic in vmware, it choses the nic with the lowest mac-adress to be the mgmt port.

We also ran into this exact issue, Even though the thread is old but I am replying to hopefully help someone else in same situation.

You will need to open a TAC case, as they will need to check few queries in your clearpass database.

In our case it had to do with the license sync between Aruba Cloud Central Server.

The timestamp between "app_registration" and "license_details" mismatch caused it in our case. Our TAC engineer had to remove the license, delete it, and reapply the license And in the aruba central server, they disabled and re-enabled this license serial number so it can sync with correct time.

Normal user can't access this level of control to fix it themselves.

    Hope this helps.
