Virtual MC has no ancillary files

Just installed a virtual MC in the lab and the AP I have could not download its image. Upon inspection of the MC I noticed this error when running the "show image version" command. It seems there are no AP images on the MC. Also, it says to upgrade, but this is at the latest 8.9.0.3 version and it will not let me upgrade it. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Try to download the VMC image for 8.9.0.3 and upgrade the VMC to this version.  The filename should be ArubaOS_VMC_8.9.0.3_83448

Hi, as mentioned above I did try that but the controller says it is already running that version and won't perform the upgrade. The exact error is:

    • "Upgrade aborted, partition 0 is already at the version of the image downloaded"

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks,

    B

Is this an existing installation?  Was it working in the first place?  What put it in this state?  If this is new, just re-download the VMWARE or ISO file and start over.

It's brand new, it's been that way since it was installed. I realize I can just start over but not sure why it would not just happen again.

Your download could have been corrupt.  The hardware controller way to solve this is typically to re-upload the image to both partitions.  that is not working, and it is software, I would start from scratch.

Ok, going to re-download the OVA and start over. Will let you know what happens.

Also, did you give the VM the proper resources (memory, CPU, disk)?

Yeah, it was from the OVA so everything was proper. I am doing ISO install now to see if it's any better.

I reinstalled VMC from ISO and now it has the files. The AP is now connecting and being upgrade.
