  • 1.  Wifi coverage for large open space

    Hi Everyone,

I need to get a WIFI network in place on a railroad siding. Main use if for cell phones and front end loaders that need internet access.

The area is about a mile long (1.6km) and 500feet wide. I have very few points to mount equipment in this stretch. The only easy part here is that the area is flat and open. No trees or buildings etc.

Does anybody here perhaps have some input as to what can be used to cover this area with a stable wireless network?

    Thanks

There are some things to consider:
Mounting heights of the APs, Uplink possibilities of the AP (fibre and/or copper), Powering of the AP, Mesh, etc.

It would be best to contact a local Aruba Partner for investigating the optimal parts for your Installation.

I see Outdoor APs as Mesh and Mesh Portal in your environment, managed by cloud or local - depending on your demands. But this should be easy fulfilled.

A so called "Venue Planning" would be perfect in order to have the correct coverage. I would suggest you to check with an Aruba Local Partner, who will perform active & passive RF Planning and additional to it, they can also recommend you which types of AP, type of configuration, whether you might need Internal or External Antennas, directional, omnidirectional etc.
