  • 1.  Wifi Heatmap using APs / Aruba Central?

    Posted Nov 07, 2023 11:44 AM

    Hi,

We have various site locations (offices) deployed with Aruba Central and 535 AP's. Is there anyway to perform an active heatmap wifi analysis to tune the wifi performace within the office? Any additional Aruba add-on products we can licence to perform this fuction or anything on the roadmap to improve AP placement and channel tuning?

    Thanks

Aruba Central support coverage hole detection using AI but its not graphical shown on a heatmap. Vendors that do that shows only the antenna pattern (if lucky) but never shown a real measurement on a heatmap. Aruba Central supports a floorplan where you can add your AP locations on a map. If you like to validate your wifi design, use professional wifi design software and tools from Ekahau.

Airwave does have a Heatmap Feature where you can simulate Walls  VisualRF

Airwave Visual RF (heatmaps) use the antenna pattern of the datasheets, to simulate the heatmap, also this is  not real measured data like we do with a Ekahau survey.

It does use the Measured Signal relationship to neighbour APs:

But Yes its not an active Sitesurvey like Ekahau or Netspot

How does Airwave VisualRF calculate the Heatmap | Network Management (arubanetworks.com)

    Heatmaps are calculated based on:

    1) device radio capability

    2) signal relationships to surrounding devices

      a) ap to ap neighbor

      b) lack of ap to ap neighbor (at what distance/signal strength/tx power does an ap not hear a neighbor)

    3) grid sizing of the floor plan (calculation area vs allocation of resources to perform calculations)
