I have in one PC a PCI card WL200 PCI card which is connected ( wireless) to AP WL400 and network seems OK if I look at the signal quality. But I have a problem with throughput even if the signal level is excellent.

I have an AP hardwired link to another PC with a hub where only one PC is connected + Access Point.

From my wireless PC, a ping to the AP seems to be good < 10 ms but sometimes the ping ( 1 time per 15 ) last 2 seconds or a timeout occured from WL200 and W400. That windows version is WinMe.

On another compaq (Evo 610C) with a compaq W200 wireles Card, a simple copy through the networlk link do not get more the 30% of 1 Mbits/s , ie 300 Kbits/s even if the signal shows 11Mbits/s.
The firmware of WL400 is the last one, and driver for bothe Wireless card are also up to date.

What is going on ? I would appreciate
if some collegue could help .

ON Evo 610C, I am in XP and I wonder is this is related to Windows XP itself of if the throughput would be related to quality of packets transmission.

Not sure if this is any help, but by default Windows XP reserves 20% of the connection bandwidth for QoS traffic.

Try removing it from your NIC card, by right clicking on the NIC card -> properties and remove the Qos Packet Scheduler from your configuration.

So if it were that point , the throughhput ought to be 300Kbit/s *1.2 2,5 Mbits /s

I have already do tuning with that point but seems not the correct fix. But as i tested long time ago, I will try again.
In fact the PC with PCI is an old one ( Pentium Pro) .

Don't you think that there could be a relationship between the capacity of getting more trames from a quicker machine ( EvoN610C is a P4 2Mhz ) ?
