I'm trying to install a linksys wireless G adapter in a presario 210 running XP. When I install the card the notebook locks up whether it's during boot up or during new hardware found. As soon as I remove the card it functions normally. This make it impossible to install.

Tony, did you ever get this
resolved? I am having the
same exact problem. The only
difference is, I have an
HP Pavilion Notebook ZE4115.
I am running XP SP1 Home Edition.

I would like to see this answer also. I installed the Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter in a HP Pavilion ze4145 with XP only to have the system lock up during the driver install. I contacted Linksys and talked to someone that spoke a language that I coundn't understand. They said that they would send me another driver but it's been 24 hours and I haven't received it yet.

Certain models of HP (and now it looks like Compaq) laptops have a problem with these 802.11g cards. I tried two cards and they did the same thing as you describe. THe laptop was sent to the repair center and, after 3 weeks, they seem to have gotten the card to work. They had replaced the network card and had upgraded the BIOS. There is a site mentioned in the Business Forum from which one can download the very latest BIOS. The BIOS flash seems to take care of SOME of the problem. Now, the connection to the Access Point is a bit tenuous. The reported speed on the WinXP Wireless Network Connection can range from 1MPS to 54MPS within a time frame of 5 minutes or less. I BELIEVE they now have this latest BIOS upgrade on the HP product-specific support/downloads area.

I never resolved the Linksys Wireless Problem but fixed the overall situation by returning the Linksys card and purchasing a D-Link AirPlus XtremeG Wireless card. That one worked straight out of the box. In my view, a US company should hire people who speak english for their technical support personel. If I can't understand the support personel, it is faster to find an easier fix. I can see how a bios upgrade could fix the problem, but a new computer should not need a bios upgrade two months after purchase
