    Quick question.

If I update the software on a 5120-EI IRF stack of 4 and reboot, approximately how long would the stack be down for?

Would the stack come back all at once, or is the master unit available quickly and the rest follow?

    Regards,

    Hi,

    depends on your prep work.

If you upgrade only the master and let the IRF system do the upgrade of the slaves, it can take some time (several reboots + depencies for peer in stack to be online first). Count on 10-15min.

If you manually copy the firmware file to all members (use copy ? for path options) and then use boot-loader to update the pointer of all members (slot all), the devices will immediatly boot with the new image and it just takes the time to form the IRF stack (about 5 min)

Do not forget to update the bootrom as well for all slots !

    Best regards,Peter.
