Controller base campus ap's running 8.12.0.4. The goal is to consolidate ap groups. 1 AP Group, 2 Vap's(different ssid's) one vap set to "A-only", one vap allows all bands. Regulatory domain set to allow both bands(2.4 & 5), both rf profiles are enabled. Thoughts? Down side?

The principle "keep it simple" is always good to follow.
When do I need different AP Groups, if the demand exists for:
    - different Regulatory Domains
    - different set of VAPs
    - different Radio / RF Profiles
    - etc.
Most of the times, if you have something like a Lab you can add an AP Group for testing purposes.

So there is nothing to say against your plan.

Thank you for the reply. I've been running mix non 2.4 with 2.4 vaps in single ap groups for a while but wanted to see if I was the only one doing it and to see if anyone had a negative experience with doing it that way.
