Before the Next Incident: 4 HPE-SRX Controls to Enable Now Most organizations already have more firewall capability than they actively use. In many environments, the firewall is still treated mainly as a policy enforcement point, (NGFW and IPS are table-stakes nowadays) while advanced protections that improve visibility, resilience, and prevention remain disabled or only partially deployed. For Security Practitioners, that gap matters because modern attacks do not wait for perfect conditions. Threats move through encrypted traffic, newly created infrastructure, malicious downloads, and abused DNS services, often faster than security teams can respond ...

Introduction When people think about Artificial Intelligence (AI), they usually think about models, GPUs, and applications. They picture chatbots answering questions, copilots generating content, recommendation engines personalizing experiences, or image generators creating artwork. What often goes unnoticed is the network... Every AI interaction begins and ends with a network transaction. Before a model can generate an answer, a request must travel through access networks, service provider infrastructure, transport networks, data centers, storage systems, and compute platforms. Once the response is generated, it must make the journey back to ...
When a Broadband Network Gateway goes down, thousands of subscribers lose connectivity. Traditional BNG redundancy solutions often result in subscriber session loss, requiring DHCP reinitialization and leading to service disruption. Active Lease Query (ALQ) solves this challenge by synchronizing DHCP lease states between BNG peers in real time. When the active BNG fails, the standby BNG already has all subscribers provisioned and takes over seamlessly, with no DHCP re-establishment required. In this article, we validate ALQ-based chassis redundancy on MX480 BNGs with MPC10E TRIO-based line cards using EVPN-VPWS multihoming to demonstrate scalable and ...
BGP runs on trust, and route leaks and hijacks are what happen when that trust is misplaced. This article shows how three complementary mechanisms close the gap — BGP Roles with Only-To-Customer attribute prevent and detect leaks several hops from the source, and - if the leak already happened - RPKI Route Origin Authorization (ROA) helps validate the origin AS, and Autonomous System Provider Authorization (ASPA) confirms the full AS PATH is valley-free. Introduction Any BGP speaker can advertise a syntactically valid route for almost any prefix. Commercial relationships between autonomous systems, such as customer, provider, and peer, are supposed ...
After the techpost “SRX clustering: from Chassis Cluster to MultiNode High Availability”, let’s deep dive into their respective configuration side by side. Below a simplified diagram showing the same architecture with an SRX pair segmenting 2 networks: In this series, also mention the other techposts from various people: Multi-Node High Availability Basics (from Steven Jacques) Hybrid MNHA with eBGP (from James Rathburn) SRX clustering: from Chassis Cluster to MultiNode High Availability (from Laurent Paumelle) MNHA, IPSec and Multiple Routing Instances (from James Rathburn) DHCP on MNHA: Back to Basics ...

Rami Rahim, e xecutive vice president, president and general manager , Networking, highlighted the critical importance of a robust network foundation capable of supporting the explosive demands of AI, real-time data movement, and autonomous operations. He also emp hasized how our network ing platforms , including ...
Extending HPE Juniper’s innovation leadership from 800G to 1.6TbE AI data center fabrics. HPE Juniper Networking has started shipping the industry's first 102.4 Tbps data center switch, featuring 64 x 1.6 Tbps OSFP-RHS ports, compliance with the Open Compute ORV3 standard, and 100% liquid-cooling efficiency, by using cold plates directly attached to the ASIC, the CPU, the DC-DC Converter, and the 64 x OSFP-RHS transceivers. This paper provides highlights of this switch. Introduction AI Data Center infrastructure puts unique demands on the network. Traffic between servers is high volume, latency must remain consistent, and power consumption ...
You may have recently experienced a temporary issue accessing the HPE Networking Airheads Community due to an SSO-related disruption. We understand how important reliable access is when you depend on the community for technical guidance, troubleshooting, and ongoing support in managing your HPE network environment. The Airheads Community is now back online, and we’ve also identified improvements to help reduce the likelihood of this issue happening again. As part of this effort, the community is currently undergoing backend Single Sign-On (SSO) migration work. During this transition, you may notice a different username appearing when you log in. This ...

250 Articles on TechPost

Almost 250 technical articles published on the TechPost platform, let's try to summarize it in a single page with links to all these posts with a short abstract. Introduction Juniper Networks, now HPE Juniper Networking, is, at its very foundation, a technological company. When we opened the TechPost platform with the motto " Byte-Sized Articles on Juniper Solutions by Network Engineers, for Network Engineers", we wanted to create a place where Juniper engineers could share their knowledge and experience on technologies, products and protocols with no marketing fluff. To date, we published close to 250 articles and it's now becoming challenging ...
Your routers and switches display power usage counters, but what are they representing and can you trust them? Let’s try to answer these questions today. Introduction Different initiatives around power are ongoing, from characterization (power calculators) to network-level power optimization, but today we will focus on the observability part: what can we monitor and can we trust these numbers. Figure 1: HPE Juniper Networking Initiatives around Energy TL;DR “ It's an awfully long article, I’m a busy engineer and don’t have time for all the details, just gimme the results please... ” Ok, ok… I admit it's a very long article, ...

SRX MNHA: VRRP

This TechPost describes an alternative solution to the native SRX Multi Node High Availability (MNHA) Switching/Hybrid Layer 2 (L2) Virtual IP address (VIP) mechanisms using Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP). MNHA combined with VRRP can offer more flexibility and speed up convergence in some failure scenarios. The solution addresses current limitations of the native MNHA L2 VIP mechanism compared with the traditional SRX chassis-cluster technology. The additional configuration should be seen as a worthwhile investment for the flexibility and better convergence times, albeit making the configuration slightly more complex. Introduction Firewall ...

There are several approaches to deploying SRv6 Traffic Engineering (TE) tunnels (LSPs), depending on the operational and automation requirements of the network. These approaches include explicitly defined (static) LSPs, dynamically computed LSPs using Constraint-Based Shortest Path First (CSPF), and centrally orchestrated paths provisioned through a WAN Controller. In this two-part technical blog series, we will take a deep dive into SRv6 TE LSP architectures and operational models, focusing on both static and dynamic path computation techniques. The series will explore how SRv6 enables flexible and scalable traffic engineering, while also highlighting the ...
