Edit 23-09-2025: I searched everywere but I wasn't able to find that particular btw file (the S5130EI-BTM-500.btw), I totally missed that old HPE Advisory...I'm sorry.

Good evening,
after two failed attempts with Ricardo's "manual" (I overred the steps where the file had to be renamed) my switch is finally back to life after downloading the firmware the 3rd time via console getting everything right.
I downloaded firmware R3507P09, I think that is the latest available: HPE Firmware Downloads The BTW BootROMwas not necessary.
Another short question: Is the configuration on the switch intended to be done via webinterface or is there an easy possibility to configure it via console like on Cisco devices? I could only find "xtd-cli-mode", with this strange password that can't be changed.

As I undertood it, the btw 500 was a special BootROM made available to fix (by fully reprogramming...about 35 minutes for the entire process to finish) the corrupted memory area considering the described issues (per HPE Advisory), if that was the case...indeed the next step, once the issue was fixed and the Switch rebooted, was to (re)apply the usual ipe file for an update which will overwrite the BootROM with its normal sequence. Let's see tomorrow. Cheers.

Hello Parnassus,
I'm not 100% sure if the BTW file is necessary. I've found some threads in the HPE forum that say YES. But I'm uploading "1950-CMW710-R3507P09.ipe" at the moment via the console cable. 115k is no fun, reminds me on the times a had a 56k modem, and later on 64k ISDN.
Hopefully the upload doesn't break, then I'll see if that file will do the trick, latest tomorrow. If not my next step would be to open a case with the HPE Technical Support to get the BTW file.

Hello Jurgen, apparently it would be easy IF the URLs at the end of this old HPE Advisory [*] wouldn't be broken...in any case "The BootWare file named S5130EI-BTM-500.btw can be obtained by contacting HPE Technical Support" so it is up to HPE to provide that file if it was removed from HPE support portal over the years and changes (HPE -> ASP -> HPE). I will try to look for it in my archives...
Are we sure the btw file is necessary? shouldn't be possible to leverage the ipe file (which should contain all needed files including the BootWare)? try to read here.

Good evening,
I hope I'm not accused of hijacking the thread, because my switch is a HPE 1950 actually. I'm running in circles, as I was told in HPE community that I should ask here in the Airheads community. - But files are back at "networkingsupport.hpe.com/", where I found several firmware packets, but still not "S5130EI-BTM-500.btw" that should fix the memory issue of the switch.
Is there another source or is that specific file included in some file/packet that has another name?
best regards
Jürgen

You're a litte bit too lazy...hijacking a thread about HPE 1950 to ask something about HPE 5130HI...don't be shy, create a new thread to avoid confusion.
P.S. In any case, considering the answers you will receive, I warn you that the HPE 5130HI Comware 7.10 R3507P18 (March 2024) and R3507P18HS01 (May 2025) builds are normally available through the ASP Aruba Support Portal (now rebranded into HPE Networking Support Portal), you need to register first and then you should be able to download them.

I have a similar problem, IPE upgrade which failed and now the .BIN files are missing.
No idea how to get the BIN files from an IPE or find any BIN files to restore the switch

Hi,
I'm having exactly the same issue as below where I can't access the bootrom and have tried updating with the IPE files available for download but none work.

Is it something to do with the BootROM not being included with the IPE files and if so, how can I get hold of the files to load? I think they need to be a bin or btw file.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks
