What is purpose of captive portal certificate on Mobility Master?  And why do I also need it on Airwave?

There is no need for a captive portal certificate to be on the Mobility Master/Conductor. The captive portal certificate should be installed and assigned to the Mobility Gateways. This is used for the captive portal login, and is required for most mobile clients to trust the connection. There is no need for the captive portal certificate on airwave either. You may have a wildcard certificate assigned to all three systems mentioned here to simplify the renewal process, but is less secure.

you could use it for HTTPS access of the GUI so that it won't give you any error/warnings about Certificate.
