    Hello everyone, 

    I'm try connect my Windows 10 computer to Aruba CX 8325 via micro usb console cable. I use default Aruba settings for this connection  on Putty -->

    I can't connect to switch. 

    When I try connect with the same computer and the same cable to Aruba OS it is works. 

    OS on Aruba 8325 is GL.10.06.0010. 

    Console cable witch RJ45  works correct. 

    Do you have any ideas what can be wrong ?

    Have you checked device manager to see if the COM port changed to something other than COM1 when connected to the CX switch?

    Just right, I choose appropriate com port, speed etc and after it type enter and nothing. I have also the second 8325 CX switch and the same situation.

    Interesting. Should work :) Not sure what to check beyond that. Maybe start at 9600 baud and move up?

    I have also tried with different speed and nothing :) The best thing is that when i connect to AOS it works.

    Are you sure you've got the right COM port?  The port may change from device to device, since it's the USB serial port in the switch itself that is being registered by Windows, and COM1 as per your screenshot is decidedly unlikely.  

    For testing purposes, I would watch the device manager when you plug the cable in and watch the port get registered.

    It's also possible something is wrong with the switch.  It's worth noting that you can detect the serial port while the switch in unpowered, start your putty connection, and watch the switch boot.  that would be the second thing I did after the above.

    Console connection will not work on Aos-cx switches you can SSH into the switch you can use the usb bluetooth dongle and download the cx-switch app

    Sorry ?? Why would console not work on aos-cx switches ?  This is the first thing that should work perfectly on a switch xD
    It works perfectly on 6300M and 8360 on windows without any driver installation with my phone usb-c cable.

    During the time of this post i have viewed the video made by Tyler McMinn who in the video...states the consoling into the switch using telnet would not work ...not that you can't console into the switch.....

    Telnet or SSH are not the same thing as console. Console refers to the serial connection directly on the switch. Telnet and SSH require an IP interface to connect to, console does not.

    Could you ssh to your 8325 with your console cable connected, then type # start-shell
    then give us the result of :
    # dmesg | grep tty
    # sudo cat /proc/tty/driver/serial​​​
    # cat/var/log/messages |grep getty

    You have micro usb and rj45 console ports, did you tried the rj45 console with a serial adapter ?

    So only thing you can do is reconnect to the console with RJ45 and make some debugs with my commands :)

    Like MT80 said though. Plugging the USB from AOS switch to CX switch doesn't mean it will keep the same com port. Just want to stress the checking of the com port AFTER you are plugged into CX via Windows Device Manager

    Did you found a permanent solution for this problem? I am having the same issues with 8325 on 10.10.1000?

    Nor micro usb nor serial cable gives any output. Tried the usb dongle and ssh but receiving a connection refused. Same for SSH and Telnet.

    i noticed this in my digest i have a 6100 switch and use a usb c using the serial connection and 15200 as the setting.
    make sure your usb is set to the com port u have set in your device manager and locate the proper usb port also

    Any solution for this? I cannot console into JL659A 6300M using USB A to USB-C cable (phone charger). Tried all baud data/stop bits, parity, flow control.

    However, could connect to 8360s, even not  using the 115200 baud.

    Where are you connecting it at the switch? There is no RJ-45 console port, only Mgmt.

    Do you see the serial port on your computer when connected?

    While becoming less common, there are USB(micro/C) cables that are for charging only, they don't have the data cables. Make sure your cable does pass data in addition to charging.

    I fixed my issue by downloading extra firmware. Afterwards I've never had any problems again with usb-c console ports on Aruba CX switches.

    Thank you everyone! It needed a driver update.

    1. Connect USB-A end to PC, and USB-C end to console port of switch.
    2. On Device Manager > Ports,  it will say something like "cp2102n UART driver needs update" with an exclamation (!) mark.
    3. Open link to drivers: https://www.silabs.com/developers/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers?tab=downloads
    4. Download universal driver, then right click on cp2102n UART driver > Update Driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Open folder where you downloaded the driver > Select the folder CP210x_Universal_Windows_Driver, click Next.
    5. It will update the driver and you should see a COM number in parenthesis (COM#).
    6. In terminal emulator (PuTTY), choose that COM# and use settings:
      • Speed (baud): 115200
      • Data bits: 8
      • Stop bits: 1
      • Parity: None
      • Flow Control: None
