Wireless Access

I have a pavilion ze5000 laptop w/ in internal LAN-Express IEEE 802.11 PCI Adaptor. For no apparent reason, it stopped working. In the device manager it is shown with a yellow exclamation point. The device status is "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". I've tried updating the driver, also uninstalling and reinstalling, both unsucessfully. Any suggestions??

Does the laptop have a switch on the front or side that enables/disables the wireless card?
According to HP (for certain laptop models):

"If your wireless network adapter is built-in to your notebook...Verify that the adapter is turned on. Some notebooks have an on/off button on the front or side that corresponds to a blue or red light. Press the button to turn the wireless adapter on."

We had an HP notebook in our lab and it took us a bit figuring out why the wireless network adapter wasn't working. In our case, someone had inadvertently switched the wireless adapter button off while moving it to another room.

I do have an on/off switch, but that's not the problem, it's definitely on. Thanks though! Any other advice?

What OS do you have? Are there any other devices attached to the laptop, such as USB or PCMCIA cards? Where did you install the wireless driver from?
This is probably a long shot, as it could be there is actually something physically wrong with the card, but here are a couple things you might also try:
1. If 2000/XP try booting up in safe mode with networking enabled to rule out another device possibly interfering in terms of a resource conflict.
2. If XP, you might want to try restoring the system to an earlier restore point when the card was working (as a precaution, create a restore point before you do this).
