  • 1.  Loop protection and redundancy

    Hello.

    I have tried to google and search for an easy explanation.

    This is not a problem or an issue post, more like a "how would you guys do this" post.

    So Im going to set up a network.

    Dual core switches and access switches connected to both core switches. The reason we want this is if one of the core switches dies, then the network should still work.

    We have multiple vlans trunked to the access switches.

    Ive attached an images trying to explain how the network is going to be connected.

    So what Im actually asking is how would you guys configure this?

    All switches will be in Aruba Central.

    What model switches are you working with here? I would suggest use VSF or VSX depending on the model of the switch to stack each layer. Access stack, and a core stack.  Once you have them stacked you can create a multi-chassis LAG or Port-Channel to connect them. This way you are utilizing all of your links, and spanning tree is not blocking on any of the links.

    Hello and thank you for the reply.

    The core switches are 6300M fiber, and the access switches are 6100.

    I cannot stack the access switches since they are located on different floors. But I can create a lag port for the 2 ports? (the 10g fiber ports which uplinks to both core switches)

    I would stack the 6300s at the AGG level, and create multi-chassis LAG down to each 6100 Access Switch.

    6300Ms have Multi-Chasis? Thought that was only with VSX.
