  • 1.  Microsoft NLB using IGMP.

Hi,  has anyone any experience witch microsoft NLB ? I want to use it with the IGMP option. The 5500 ip service manual has an exemple using the nlb multicast option. I've read that the IGMP option avoid the multicast arp to be flooded, once the switches are configurated witch igmp-snooping.  I used the arp static command and activate igmp in the layer 3 switch and igmp snooping in the layer 2 ones. Also user the undo arp check enable command but nothing worked.

    Configuration Core switch:

    undo arp check enable

    arp static 10.1.4.13 03bf-0a01-040d   ( vip IP and multicast mac-address )

     interface vlan 1001

            igmp enable

    Other switches:

    Igmp-snooping

    Vlan 1001

             Igmp-snooping enable

I haven't tested with NLB so far but am pretty sure you need to enable PIM at your core switch (this is your VLAN default gateway I assume).

    Give that a shot...

    Thanks,

Darylwanm thanks for your reply. I have already tried it.  There is no need to route multicast in these nlb solution.

All hosts are in the same vlan.
