    Hi

    Having trouble using a modem connecting to a remote system on the HP-UX B.11.11.
    We can dial out and we do hear the modem talking to the remote system but I get no login prompt or any thing else back from it.

    Our configuration seems to be correct, I hope.

    sam was used

    0/1/3/0 pci_mux0 PCI MUX (8 ports)

    baud 9600
    line is /dev/ttyd2a2
    [X] Use Device for Calling out
    [X] Receive In-coming Calls (start getty process)
    [ ] CCITT Modem (European standard modems)
    [ ] Use Hardware Flow Control Device Files (RTS/CTS protocol)

    the Devices file...
    Direct ttyd2a2 - 9600 direct
    ACU ttyd2a2 - 9600 hayes

    the Dialers file ...
    ACU ttyd2a2 - 9600 hayes
    hayes =,-, "" \dATZ\d\r OK\r \dAT\r\c OK\r \dATS7=45\r\c OK\r \EATDT\T\r\c CONNECT

    /usr/sbin/lssf /dev/ttyd2a2
    pci_mux0 card instance 2 port a2 callin at address 0/1/3/0 /dev/ttyd2a2

    /usr/sbin/lssf /dev/cul2a2
    pci_mux0 card instance 2 port a2 callout at address 0/1/3/0 /dev/cul2a2

    /usr/sbin/lssf /dev/cua2a2
    pci_mux0 card instance 2 port a2 callout at address 0/1/3/0 /dev/cua2a2

    The /etc/inittab
    a1:3:respawn:/usr/lbin/uucp/uugetty -r -t 60 -h ttyd2a2 9600

    cu command
    /usr/bin/cu -s9600 -lttyd2a2 dir

    I have tried the cu command in different flavors to login to our remote system and the modem does seem to have lights flickering when I press "h" of a bunch of <ENTER> chars and I do get the "CONNECT 9600/ARQ/V34/LAPM/V42BIS" but that is the last I get.

    Will you help

    Steve
    </ENTER>

    I found the answer with help of Chris and this was all I needed to get this modem to work completly.

    -------------------------------------------
    at&f&c1&d2s0=1
    You should get "ok"
    Then type at&w0. (This is the write command for NVRAM)(check your modem Manual)
    -------------------------------------------

    Thanks for your help Chris
