Hi.
I have a Procurve 5406zl which I forgot the login password for. I could however still access it via the serial port, so I did a no "password manager" and "no password operator" And retyped the new passwords for both operator and manager: "password operator user-name ***** plaintext *****"

"password manager user-name ***** plaintext *****"

The next attempt to logon as manager did not succeed, I only got access as operator.
Yes, both operator and manager uses the same user names, but diffrent passwords.

Any idea what could be causing this?

To reset the password without losing your config, push the 'clear' button with a small pointer on the front of the switch while pressing enter at the password prompt (serial).
This will clear the password.

Thanks, but unfortunately that doesn't work, even though the passwords are being cleared, I still can access the switch via telnet as manager when I have configured a new password.
