    Hi

we're running a network with several rings of procurve switches terminating in 2 cisco cr6505's which are trunked together. I have to set up a procurve 2610 as an edge-switch on a member in one of the rings.
As it will only be connected to the network on a single port, is it strictly necessary to set up RSTP spanning-tree on it like all the others have ?
( The man who knows is on vacation so i would like to keep things as simple as possible )

    regards
    Ole Martin Aas

    Hello Ole,
when you connect only one port you must not activate STP.
But make a banner or motd and mark the switch so that nobody can connect a 2nd port.

    Regards
