TechNote: The Juniper Feature Explorer

In September 2025 I posted about the new and improved Feature Navigator for HPE Aruba Networking switches and APs: https://airheads.hpe.com/discussion/technote-a-look-at-the-refreshed-feature-navigator

There is a similar reference site for HPE Juniper Networking equipment at https://apps.juniper.net/feature-explorer/, along with a linked hardware explorer site https://apps.juniper.net/hardware-explorer/

The Feature Explorer is available to everybody with no login or access requirements. 

Just like Feature Navigator, the Juniper Feature Explorer enables easy side-by-side comparison between different models and different release versions. It helps with products in routing, switching and security domains.

Some of the key features:

• choose the product/version combination
• filter for specific features
• download the selected list as PDF or Excel format
• compare between 2-5 products, showing commonalities and differences
• view a specific feature and the products that support it.

Example: Explore EX4300

The screenshot shows:
⦁    filtering - OSPF
⦁    option to download output as Excel or PDF
⦁    flags that this OS version is EOL
⦁    Prerequisites show where a licence is required

Example: Compare Products - Evolved

From the Compare Products option, it is easy to get a list of  the devices that support the next-gen Junos OS Evolved

Example: Compare Products - EX4400 vs EX4650

Compare Products allows side-by-side comparison of up to 5 devices (within the same software version.) In this example looking at the 4400 and 4650, filtered on ISSU.

Example: Explore by Feature - Grandmaster Clock

Explore by Feature helps find the products and software releases that support a set of features. In this example PTP Grandmaster shows that Grandmaster is supported on multiple routers
